If you’re struggling with envisioning a fight scene, you might consider drawing inspiration from one of these martial arts videos:

• Quarterstaff techniques in slow motion (could also be useful for up-close mage staffwork)
  

• More quarterstaff, more fun and theatrical.
  

• A bit of quick polearm fighting.
  

• The music is painful and if you’re not used to watching fighting it might be hard to spot the hits, but full-speed fighting with sword and center-grip round (”Viking”) shields.
  

• SCA-style shieldwork for “heater” shields in slow motion. [Hey I know these dudes!]
  

• Live-steel longsword tournament with some good talking between fights.
  

• Not pumped yet?  Have some full-contact, full-speed, live-steel Battle of the Nations lunatics.  Living history geeks are absolutely the craziest geeks. 
  

This is a pretty random selection but the point is that if you’re stuck on action scenes, Youtube and the many lunatics who are willing to get hit with weapons have your back.
